Appliance error-code dataset
The core of FaultCodeLab as machine-readable files: 249source-cited, confidence-rated error codes across the covered brands and appliance types. Free to reuse under a Creative Commons licence with attribution.
Model scope and review status in v2
Version 2 adds applicability, editorial status and explicit source sections to each record. Confidence describes source strength; it does not mean every claim has completed editorial review.
Missing assessments remain needs-review. Missing source locators stay empty. Review dates describe documented source review; AI-assisted review is separate from technician testing and native-language review.
The CSV stores arrays and nested fields as JSON inside quoted cells. Cells that could be spreadsheet formulas receive a leading apostrophe.
This corpus measures documentation coverage, not how frequently appliances fail. Manufacturer documents retain their own rights; linked manuals are not relicensed under the dataset licence.

What is included
Each record carries the citable facts only: brand, appliance type, the code as shown on the display, its cautiously worded short meaning, severity, confidence level, the recorded source URLs it is cited against, and the date those sources were last checked. Every record also links back to its full page.
Safety guidance — first checks, stop-use boundaries, and when to call a technician — is intentionally not in the file and stays on the website, where it can carry its full context. Both export versions omit repair steps and safety instructions.

The dataset is published underCC-BY-4.0. You may share and adapt it, including commercially, as long as you give appropriate credit and link back.
